EFTPOS over satellite

White Label Networks have several customers who are now sending EFTPOS transactions to the their banks using satellite Internet services. These customers tend to be mining companies who have staff canteens in remote areas where there is no wired line or mobile telephony infrastructure. Once these staff canteens have EFTPOS facilities, the staff do not need to carry as much cash as they once did because cash-out is available at the mine canteen.

The Axon G2210 connects to the satellite service via its Ethernet port and transactions are routed to the bureau service via the public Internet. The total cost for this sort of system for a single site is $695 for the Axon G2210 and 9.9 cents per transaction billed in arrears. Discounts are available for quantity.

Turnaround time from date of order is about 7 working days. We strongly recommend that purchasers of this system send us their EFTPOS pinpad so that we can ensure that the Axon is configured correctly. Different banks and pinpad manufacturers use different EFTPOS protocols.

To date, latency over the satellite has not been an issue. For more details, please call the White Label Networks Product Manager on (07) 3033 8853.
